According to reports, U.S. authorities searched the Democratic congressman’s home as part of a criminal investigation.

Federal law enforcement authorities have raided the Washington, D.C.-area home of Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Homeland Security Investigations agents conducted the search early Monday morning, The Associated Press reported, citing two people familiar with the matter.

The Justice Department confirmed that investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant, but did not release Omar’s identity or details of the investigation.

Fox News, citing unnamed sources, reported that the raid is related to immigration fraud charges involving documents filed by Omar’s father, who died when she was a child. No charges have been announced.

Omar denounced the raids in a social media post Monday, accusing the Trump administration of using federal law enforcement to target political opponents.

“It’s okay. Make no mistake about it. This is an attempt to target political opponents and weaponize federal law enforcement,” she wrote.

“For 10 years, Trump has targeted me with a campaign of baseless lies and smear. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.”

“I will not be silent,” she added.

The Somali-born congressman, who came to the United States as a child refugee and later became a naturalized citizen, represents a district in Minnesota that includes Minneapolis.

She has long been a target of President Trump’s political attacks, particularly on immigration.

Tom Holman, the Trump administration’s border security chief, said in September that Omar was the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation, but gave no other details. Omar said at the time that she had not been contacted by the Department of Homeland Security and denied the allegations were politically motivated.

Vice President J.D. Vance has also accused Omar of immigration fraud in the past without providing evidence. In an interview with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson, Vance said he had discussed ways to investigate her with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.

“How do we go after her? How do we investigate her? How do we actually do it?” Vance asked, pondering the construction of the case.

In March, Omar’s office dismissed Vance’s claims as “fabricated and defamatory.” There was no immediate public response from Omar to Monday’s raid.

The raid comes just three weeks before the Nov. 3 midterm elections, where Republicans will fight to maintain control of Congress.

Omar said she and her family had received death threats because of Trump’s comments and called Trump’s obsession with her “creepy.”

In December, the president called the congressman and other Somali immigrants “trash.”

In February, he said Omar and Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, both Muslims and members of a group of progressive lawmakers known as “The Squad,” should be “institutionalized” and sent back to their “places of origin” after criticizing Omar’s State of the Union address.

Last month, a Minnesota man was sentenced to 14 months in prison for spraying vinegar on Omar during a January town hall rally at the height of President Trump’s immigration crackdown in Minneapolis, where she was calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
