Claude’s creator is holding preliminary “test” meetings with bankers and investors in San Francisco, people familiar with the matter said. The officials requested anonymity because the contents of the meeting are confidential. At the meeting, Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao will be asked questions about competition, profit pressure from open source models and what to do if data center construction stalls, people familiar with the matter said.
In June, Anthropic privately filed for an initial public offering, the largest IPO in history. Elon Musk’s space xThe company, which competes with Anthropic through its AI division, raised $85.7 billion, including an underwriter option, two months ago. This is our largest offering to date.
Investors expect Anthropic could outperform that, potentially valuing the company at about $2 trillion, the people said.

With less than three months until the midterm elections, politicians on both sides of the aisle are pushing back on data center development, reflecting voter anger.
This was a key issue in Florida’s Republican gubernatorial primary on Tuesday, which was won by Rep. Byron Donald, who proposed restrictions on Florida’s data centers. On the same day, Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro signed an executive order imposing strict standards on data center development in the state.
Companies must outline risk factors in their prospectus for investor disclosure and legal protection. “Global macroeconomic and geopolitical adversity could adversely affect our business, financial condition, results of operations, and future prospects,” SpaceX said in its risk factors section.
Computing power is directly correlated to the revenue of AI labs like Anthropic, which is valued at nearly $1 trillion in the private market. As CNBC previously reported, the economic slowdown could undermine historic growth rates for a company whose annual sales just topped $65 billion.
