The data center boom in the United States is primarily tied to the growth prospects of two companies. human and OpenAI and the seemingly never-ending demand for its models and services. Wall Street is now considering what a potential slowdown in model development could mean for the industry as a whole.

oracle has undergone a major transformation over the past 18 months to take advantage of opportunities in artificial intelligence, pouring billions of dollars into computing and data centers while laying off employees in areas where growth has slowed.

Like an industry heavyweight GE Vernova, caterpillar and Vertive While we have invested heavily in providing essential energy equipment to power our AI servers, Nevius and coreweave plays a central role in providing hyperscalers with access to compute and AI infrastructure.

For all these companies and others such as server manufacturers Dell and hewlett packard enterprisecontinued success will depend on continued ramp-up and continued high demand for chips and AI systems. “Large delays could cost you money,” one tech investor, who requested anonymity to speak candidly about the issue, told CNBC.

The buzz intensified on Monday as AI infrastructure stocks sold off over the weekend following an offer from the United States. human CEO Dario Amodei slows down development of Frontier models.

Amodei wrote that the slowdown in AI development does not mean “a halt to model training or technological progress.”

Still, GE Vernova stock fell nearly 9% on Monday as Caterpillar fell more than 4%, Vertiv fell nearly 8% and Oracle fell nearly 4%.

RBC Capital Markets equity analyst Rishi Jallia told CNBC that a slowdown in model development and training is likely to be a headwind for Oracle’s cloud infrastructure business, which has been a driver of the stock’s price.

Data centers are facing increasing pressure, including from a growing national backlash, and are expected to rush to secure AI debt over the next six weeks, said two people familiar with the situation, who requested anonymity because the negotiations are private.

Amazon is the latest hyperscaler to return to the debt market, raising about 4.25 billion pounds (about $6 billion) last week. alphabet In May, it also experimented with European markets, raising about $10 billion through the sale of Eurobonds.

A new bond deal to be announced this fall will carry significantly higher interest rates than previous issuances, one of the sources said.

“Bond investors are looking for more compensation,” the person said.
