snap We are partnering with Nvidia, Amazon Web services and sales force As part of an effort to bring $2,000-spec augmented reality glasses to the corporate market.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel characterized the initiative as tied to the company’s broader efforts to “help people understand that Specs is a computer, not smart glasses for taking photos.”

When Snap introduced Specs AR glasses in June with a price tag of $2,195 and a $200 refundable deposit, the company marketed the device as aimed at the general public, not developers. AR and related virtual reality technologies have advanced over the years, but devices such as microsoft’s Hololens and meta The Quest-branded VR headset wasn’t a huge hit.

Spiegel said the bulk of these older devices was a major stumbling block, and said his company’s Spex AR glasses are well-suited for tasks like helping field technicians view digital instructions to troubleshoot equipment problems or interact with workers.

So far, Snap’s success has been in the consumer market. The company hopes that partnership with Nvidia and others will change that.

“They have an open source XR AI platform that many companies are already building on top of,” Spiegel said. “Salesforce and Nvidia’s goal is to make it very easy for enterprises to reap the benefits of these agent platforms.”

Snap is also debuting a consumer AI service called Specs Intelligence. It’s like a digital assistant that can perform tasks not only on AR glasses but also on iPhones and Mac computers. Spiegel said the company hasn’t decided on specific pricing details yet, but it will include a free tier and “different pricing tiers” based on usage.

The company’s latest foray into AI comes amid a growing debate in the broader technology market about safety and whether underlying model leaders like Anthropic and OpenAI should slow down their pace of development.

“These are concerns that have been raised for a long time,” Spiegel said.

“It is very important that we coordinate an international and thoughtful response,” Spiegel said. “It’s really important that regulators and policymakers consider real potential harms, not imagined harms. That’s why I think it’s going to be so important for a thoughtful international group to seriously come together on this issue.”
