The Trump administration’s new chatbot, aimed at helping Americans navigate official government websites, is powered by artificial intelligence. google‘s Gemini and Elon Musk’s Grok, US Chief Design Officer Joe Gebbia said on Tuesday.
“We have great partners behind the scenes,” Gebbia told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” shortly before the site America.gov went live around 10 a.m. ET.
“Google is proud to have been named a technology partner for this important effort, which leverages Gemini to help more than 100 million people quickly and easily access critical public resources,” a Google spokesperson told CNBC, referring to the company’s blog post published Tuesday morning.
“By supporting the government’s digital modernization vision, we are committed to making these everyday public services seamless, accessible, and responsive for all Americans,” the post reads.

“Every day, 40 million people use government websites to get things done, and I think we can all agree that things should be better,” Gebbia told CNBC.
Gebbia said the AI tool works with all 29,000 government websites to answer users’ questions with the latest information.
“When you come to America.gov and ask what you need, in the chat interface, we scan tens of thousands of websites on the back end to pull in information specific to whatever your request is and provide you with a personalized response that only comes from official sources,” he said. “So there’s no chance of getting outdated or inaccurate information like there is on third-party websites.”
The site will be unveiled at a daylong event at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., attended by President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other government officials and industry leaders.
“This is more than just a website. This is a restoration of America’s founding promise and a reinvention of government for the 21st century and beyond,” President Trump said in a speech at the event.
The gathering will also include various panel discussions on AI and other topics such as energy, health, space, and agriculture.
