meta The stock just finished its best month since 2022 as investors cheered the social media giant’s recent momentum in artificial intelligence.

The company’s stock closed Wednesday at $725.18, up 27% from its closing price of $572.34 at the end of August. Wall Street has been optimistic about the company’s business since its personal AI agent app, Muse, debuted on September 8th, and the app became a huge hit, surpassing rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT in downloads on Apple iOS.

The last time Meta stock got big was in November 2022, the month OpenAI launched ChatGPT. Meta began its efficiency efforts and was recovering from a rough year.

Meta also held its annual Connect conference for developers in September, where CEO Mark Zuckerberg characterized Muse as the “centerpiece” of the company’s product and business strategy, while also unveiling new hardware products such as the Muse Charm AI pendant.

The company sees potential big business in the nascent AI agent market, and rivals are doing the same, including OpenAI, which debuted its Dots agent tool on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Meta this week hired MongoDB CEO CJ Desai to lead a new business unit called Meta Enterprise Platform, and debuted Muse for small business agent technology.

“With the enterprise AI solutions market, including cloud capacity, expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2028, we believe Meta’s consumer data and communications apps could give Meta an advantage in selling AI enterprise to consumer-centric enterprises,” BofA Global Research analysts wrote in a note Monday. “We look forward to distributing Meta’s model API to major hyperscaler platforms.”

September was also the 5th best month on record for the meta. The stock outperformed all its mega-cap peers and outperformed the Nasdaq, which has gained about 2% in that time.

Correction: An earlier version of this article had the date of the last major quarter in Meta’s stock price incorrect at key points.

Attention: BofA warns that Meta’s Muse could threaten Apple.
