Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on August 24, 2026 in New York City, USA.

Brendan McDiarmid | Reuters

Stock futures were mostly flat Tuesday night ahead of the release of key U.S. inflation data along with Nvidia’s latest quarterly results.

S&P500 futures There was almost no change, but Nasdaq 100 futures It rose nearly 0.1%.

Major averages are coming off a strong session due to lower yields and lower oil prices. In regular trading, the S&P 500 rose 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.7%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 160.24 points, or 0.3%, for the third consecutive day in positive territory.

Asia-Pacific markets were mixed on Wednesday. Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.5%. Korean Kospi It fell 0.12%% against the Australian benchmark. S&P/ASX 200 It was 0.34% higher.

The July Personal Consumption Expenditure Price Index, a monthly report detailing changes in the prices of goods and services and the Federal Reserve’s recommended inflation measure, is scheduled to be released Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Economists polled by Dow Jones had forecast a 0.1% increase from the previous month and a 3.6% increase from a year earlier. The June report noted a 0.1% decrease on a monthly basis and a 3.7% increase on an annual basis.

This report focuses on the bond market. Last week, U.S. Treasury yields hit multi-year highs, and the 30-year bond rate hit its lowest level in nearly 20 years. But yields fell broadly on Tuesday, with the 10-year Treasury yield dropping almost 8 basis points on the day.

Nvidia, Jackson Hole first

Nvidia is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings after the bell Wednesday. Wall Street expected earnings of $2.09 per share on revenue of $92.28 billion, according to FactSet.

The report could be a precursor to the broader market, given that the company is the largest S&P 500 member with a market capitalization of more than $5 trillion.

Investors are also keeping an eye on Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh’s speech Friday at the Fed’s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. However, some point out that Mr. Warsh may remain silent ahead of the Fed’s monetary policy decision in September.

“Given his approach to press conferences in June and July, we believe it is unlikely that he will quickly move into a deep dive into the current economic outlook and its implications for policy surrounding the remainder of 2026. We expect to spend some time on broad themes with an emphasis on the supply side and how these topics will be addressed by the task force,” Kurt Lewis, head of central bank policy at Piper Sandler, said in a letter to clients.
