In betting terminology, the table changing from cold to hot is called “catching the heater.” Craps players live for it. Blackjack players wait for it, investors pray for it. Las Vegas sand could be the answer to those prayers.
Named after the gaming capital of Nevada, las vegas sands It has relied heavily on Asian/Macau stories from the past decade. When Macau banned junket extended VIP credits in the fourth quarter of 2021, the high roller class that once dominated headlines collapsed. It has long been known that casinos attract VIPs, but due to commissions, perks, and low-edge games such as baccarat, casino profit margins have generally not been very high. Meanwhile, Sands is actively exploring new development opportunities in Texas, the UAE, Thailand and Japan. Any of these could move the needle in a meaningful way.
Given that the 14x forward price-earnings ratio is based solely on Macau and Singapore, at the lower end of the company’s historical range and barely above the 13x 10-year low, a “win” in any of these regions would cost little.
Return on equity highlights management’s confidence. Dividends have been reinstated and about $6 billion in share buyback authorizations remain. Approximately 20% of the current market capitalization. There will be strong tailwinds once the company begins to implement some of its share buyback authorizations.
Here you can see the option price (also known as the “implied volatility”). The one-month implied volatility is about 28%, compared to a five-year average of about 39% and a five-year low of 24%. Cheap stocks, capital return tailwinds, and cheap options, plus options if they successfully develop in any of the new markets they’re exploring. Cheap options are important here. Because, despite all the good points I just outlined, an even more ticklish area is the long-term moving average.
Las Vegas Sands (LVS) since the beginning of the year
The stock price is low not only because of expected sales and profit growth, but also because the stock price is falling. It has fallen more than 30% since late November last year. Experienced traders look for inflection points. I think Las Vegas Sands stock has found that. The 20-day chart has started to rise and appears to be above the 50-day mark. LVS has outperformed the S&P since the beginning of H2 2026. Those who want to call rebounds early should probably consider calling for jobs.
For example, consider the November $50 strike call. That’s just over $2 per contract, or 4% of the current stock price. One captures earnings, interim results, and the potential for a bearish-to-bullish reversal.
